My Favourite 5 Holidays
59Introduction
Having being quite fortunate so far in my life with regards to travelling, I have decided to list my 5 favourite holidays. Each destination had something that made it individual and special. The list is in no particular...mainly because I can't choose a favourite!
1) Phuket, Thailand
My list starts with Phuket, Thailand. One word....WOW! I first visited Phuket in 2004. At the time Thailand was gaining a reputation as a great holiday destination so I decided to check it out for myself! During my stay in Thailand I visited Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. I enjoyed all of my stay there but it was Phuket in particular that really stood out. The scenery is beautiful, the people are friendly, the food is delicious and there is so much to do there. I should probably mention that the weather wasn't too bad either! During my stay in Phuket I snorkeled at the beautiful Phi Phi Islands, went sea kayaking at Phang Nga Bay and visited Khao Sok National Park where I was able to ride an elephant. I enjoyed my time there so much that I went back again in 2006. I'm definitely planning on going back again in the future, it is such an amazing place!
Orlando, Florida, USA
I'm not sure where to start with this one! There is so much to do in Orlando that you could spend a month there and still not see everything. Having visited 3 times now, Orlando seems to get better and better every time I visit! The first thing to mention has to be the theme parks and water parks. These parks cater for everyone, whether you are a family with young children or a group of friends looking to be thrilled on the huge roller coasters and water slides. My particular favourite is probably Universal Studios. The Simpson's ride there was spectacular! I also loved all of the water parks. During my stays in Florida I also try and make time for a round of golf (I'm used to playing in the pouring rain so it's nice to play in the sun every so often!). The shopping in Orlando is also very impressive, it's a lot cheaper than the UK and there is so much choice! I'm planning a trip back to America in the summer to try and see a bit more of the USA. I find myself having to fight the urge of visiting Orlando again!
Dubai, UAE
Dubai has to make my list. It is without doubt one of the most impressive places I have visited. To start with, the rooftop swimming pool at my hotel offered the most amazing views. Although there was still a lot of building work going on when I was there, the buildings that were completed were quite spectacular. When its all completed I imagine it will be quite something. During my time there I went quad biking and sand boarding on the sand dunes, went on 4x4 drive across the desert and rode a camel. I also had a go at belly dancing but we won't go into too much detail about that! I would certainly like to visit again one day to see the completed Dubai.
Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
When searching for a cheap holiday for myself and friends, I came across Sunny Beach in Bulgaria. I had always imagined Bulgaria to be a cold and wintry place but after spending a bit of time researching Sunny Beach on the Internet we were surprised to find it was anything but that. We booked to stay for a week at the Fiesta Beach Hotel, still unsure of exactly what to expect. What we got certainly exceeded any expectations we did have. This was a different type of holiday to those mentioned so far; it wasn't packed with different activities and adventures. Instead we spent the week relaxing. The beach was beautiful and the food and drink was very cheap. The sea food on offer was quite superb. The nightlife in Sunny Beach was also very good. There was plenty different bars and a number of clubs too. If you are looking for a cheap, relaxing getaway, I would certainly suggest considering Sunny Beach in Bulgaria.
Paris, France
My final choice for this list is Paris. I have been fortunate enough to visit Paris on 4 separate occasions. In my opinion, Paris is the most beautiful city I have visited. There are so many monuments to see in Paris. Visiting the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees is a must for any visitor to Paris. Paris is also home to some of the best restaurants in the world and the food served there is stunning. There is also a Disneyland in Paris for families to visit, a number of sports teams for sports fans to see in action and and opera house and theatre. Paris really is an amazing city.
Finally...
As it stands at the moment, these are my 5 favourite holiday destinations that I have visited so far. Each destination has that little something that made it extra special. Maybe, in time as I travel more, the list may change. If this is the case though it wouldn't take away from the fact that I enjoyed visiting all of the places listed above. I hope you enjoyed reading this and feel free to leave comments.

Phuket is wonderful, Paris terrific if it's during economic times when Americans are welcomed, Dubai is on my list and Orlando is almost in my backyard (check out my hub on Budget Travel in Orlando) and be sure to check out St. Augustine as well as the Kennedy Space Center and Ocala if you're in the area.
